Between myth, archaeology and endless horizons:
from an ancient citadel down to the castle of a poet.
Walls, an acropolis and watchtowers of a fortified town of the 4th century BC, on the slope facing the Ionian coast. A land of Greek alliances and battles fought by the Lucanians.

Tradition links these mountains to Lagaria, the city said to be founded by Epeius, builder of the Trojan Horse: stories of heroes and long journeys.

Natural scree fields with the valley opening below, then a wood of old oaks and a steep descent.

The castle of ancient Favale, today Valsinni: home and prison of the poet Isabella Morra. Inside, with the castle guide, we discover her verses.

Isabella Morra, born around 1520 in this valley, spent her short life closed in the family castle. She wrote to the river, the Siri, the Sinni of today, about her solitude and her longing for the world outside. Her verses are among the first voices of a woman poet in Italian literature.
We arrive at her door after walking the same valley she looked at, from the summit to the window.
